## A new product starts invisible

A new app has no brand recall and no backlinks. And more and more, people ask an AI assistant what to use before they ever open a search engine.

Discoverability had to be designed into the site from day one, not bolted on after launch.

## What I built

- **Content architecture:** Layer, feature, integration, and use-case pages, plus 82 guides that answer the specific questions people search for.
- **The Whole Picture:** An editorial hub of comparisons, tracking explainers, concepts, and a glossary, bylined to the coach personas and labeled as AI-generated.
- **Markdown twins:** Every page has a clean markdown version at /index.html.md, so AI agents get the content without the layout.
- **llms.txt:** A curated map of layers, features, use cases, and policies written for language models.
- **Content signals:** robots.txt declares search, AI input, and AI training permissions explicitly with Content-Signal.
- **Structured data:** Schema.org SoftwareApplication markup with a stable @id, so Moodwell resolves as one consistent entity across the web.

## Key product decisions

- **Label AI-written content:** The Whole Picture articles are published as AI-generated and bylined to the coach personas. They're never passed off as human experts.
- **Opt in to AI, explicitly:** robots.txt allows search, AI input, and AI training. For a new product, being part of the answer is worth more than staying out of the models.
- **Hedged copy is precise copy:** Product pages state limits plainly (what's estimated, what costs credits, what isn't covered), which reads as trustworthy to people and as unambiguous to models.
- **The same playbook as this site:** Markdown twins, llms.txt, and content negotiation are the same patterns running on andekian.com, applied to a consumer product.

AI is both an audience for the site and a disclosed contributor to it.

- **AI assistants:** Read llms.txt and markdown twins to answer questions about Moodwell accurately.
- **Editorial:** The Whole Picture articles are AI-generated and bylined to coach personas. (Always labeled as AI-generated.)
